The African Women’s Development and communication Network (FEMNET) is a regional, membership-based non-governmental organisation (NGO). It operates through Sub-regional and National Focal Points (NFP) most of which are women’s network or umbrella organizations. FEMNET was set up in 1988 to share information, experiences, ideas and strategies among African women’s NGOs as a strategy for strengthening women’s capacity to participate effectively the development of our continent. This is done through advocacy, training, communication and networking.

  1. Well, if you wish to participate, the rules are: answer 11 questions posed to you by your nominator; state 11 facts about yourself; nominate 11 other blogs, and; create 11 questions for your nominees to answer. It would be brilliant to find out by other fab blogs written by African women 🙂

  2. I would also like to know how to become a member of FEMNET, whether there are volunteer opportunities too. I am taking studies in law and would love to practice the gender-based issues that i have learnt about. Thank you

    • Hi Judy, sincere apologies for the delayed response. Please send an email to Rose ( – she can send you the membership form and you can fill it out and send it back to us or come to the office and say hello in person :). In the meantime – see what we’re all about – and @femnetprog (twitter) – FB – FEMNET Secretariat.
