Vol VI (Jan-June 2013)2013 is a year of milestones – this is the year in which FEMNET celebrates 25 years of existence and promoting African women’s rights, the year in which the Organization of African Unity/African Union commemorates 50 years, the African Union Protocol on the Rights of Women marks 10 years since it’s adoption and the Gender is My Agenda Campaign observes 10 years since it came into being.  This is also the third year into the African Women’s Decade (2010-2020), which presents an opportune moment to further reflect on how our governments and other key stakeholders are ensuring African women and girls attain the goals and aspirations of the Decade.

The sixth and special edition of the African Women’s Journal will seek to address issues such as:- What has the women’s movement meant for Pan-Africanism? Likewise, what has Pan-Africanism meant for advancing women’s rights? What are the gains of women in Africa thanks to Pan-Africanism? And how are we as African women organizing ourselves at national and regional levels to continue revolutionizing pan-Africanism for our future generations?
